I need to do some genetic (and completely harmless! I'm just testing the heredity of physical traits) experiments on some sort of animal but I can't think of a good type! I'm looking for something with the following requirements:
-Rather cheap, I don't want to spend a ton of money on them.
-A very short lifespan! I'm testing genetics, so I need them to breed very often and not live for over a week.
-Hardy, I don't want to kill them prematurely! D:
-Easy to care for. Not too much mess, easy to feed, etc.
-It would be really nice if the species has color variations, but I guess it doesn't need to.
