design specs: Design Requirements:
In teams of two, construct a balsa wood bridge that will hold as much weight as possible using bridge efficiency calculations and only the design constraints.

Performance Index:
Three view drawing of your bridge design, balsa wood model design that will hold as much weight as possible using bridge efficiency calculations and only the design constraints.

Design Constraint:
The bridge will use wood and glue only. The finished bridge dimensions should be within 2mm of the required sizes. Gussets do not exceed max size. No excessive glue will be allowed. If I can see the glue, then it is excessive!

Bridge Sizes:
Length – 450mm
Width – 100mm
Height – 100mm above and 20mm below or 120mm above with lowest top bracing at 100mm; 20mm above and 100mm below or 120mm below ( highest point above or below)
Gussets – Max size 10x10mm
(minus 1 point for every mm above or below length, width and height)

Material Constraints:
Only the following materials may be used:
•15 – Balsa wood sticks 1/8”x 24”
•1 – Gusset sheet 4”x 6”
•Elmer’s wood glue
•Masking tape for holding wood together when gluing
•Wax paper
