What wrong with my nails??

There's something wrong with my fingernails. They're dry, red and sore and the cuticle has disappeared so the nail now looks as if its separate. It's not just dryness because i've tried moisturising! The skin underneath the nail is also red, sore and peeling. And for some strange reason it's only the fourth finger of each hand that is affected. My other nails are fine.

Could someone please tell me what it is so i can treat it?

paperboat...I have psoriasis with nail involvement...NOT saying this is what you have, but I have seen other p people with nails like yours. What led me to respond is that they are so dry that lotions and oils do not alleviate the problem. Nail lifting is common in psoriasis. Perhaps a doc appt would be a wise thing to do. A dermatologist would be able to diagnose. Hope this helps...
