What would you do to a 2000 Jetta if you were re-doing all the sound inside?

Looking to put a new system in.
Speakers, Ability to play my ipod without a tape adapter, Maybe a box with some subs or something, but there is no place to put it other than the trunk...and thats no good...
Looking at ~500 budget

Well i would check out an Ipod ready head unit (also known as a radio or deck). That will solve your Ipod problem and it will plug directly into the Ipod not the head phone jack. That will set you back about $200 or so. I recommend Alpine. Unless your current speakers are blown and sound crappy I would stick with them and get a sub. Once again for a sub i would recommend Alpine. For that car probably a 10" Alpine Type R. They beat really hard and are fairly easy to come by. Put it into a nice vented box and you will have good bass.
Those two items will possible have you at your price limit already so if you don't want to get bass like that then i would check into all new speakers for the inside. Getting a 4 channel amp (or more if you have more speakers) and get all new component speakers. That would get louder sound and better quality without the massive bass.

It all depends on what your looking for in your system.
I would definitely look into the head unit first. Then If you want bass get a sub or two.
