What would you do if your mother-in-law "borrowed" your car for 4 months?

You have two cars so you do have one to spare, but you also have a newborn baby and probably need both cars. Your mother-in-law isn't exactly responsible and has a family of her own and has no car, nor an intrest in purchasing one. Furthermore you want to keep a diplomatic relationship (remain friends) with your mother-in-law . And also your mother-in-law is a single mother of 4. So what would y'all do

I would tell her as diplomatically as possible, that she needs to look into getting a vehicle of her own.

Start saving the money, looking at used cars, etc.

With a newborn, your going to need the use of the second vehicle yourself, and the sooner the better. At least attempt to make arrangements to share the car at this time while she plans for one of her own. Let her know your still willing to help in the meantime.
