Darryl Jackson is a 20-year-old unemployed male. He is addicted to cocaine, has no family, and is homeless. He has three prior felony convictions (all drug possession). He has recently been convicted of his fourth felony (a burglary), and you are the judge deciding his fate. The sentencing statute allows you to sentence Jackson with anything from a minor fine to life imprisonment (or any combination of punishments).

Here are the specific facts of the case. On October 18, Darryl Jackson entered the apartment of Angela Starter. He entered by picking the lock on her back door. He stole her stereo ($1,500), jewelry ($3,500), and Matchbox car collection ($800). When Jackson was leaving her apartment, a security officer stopped and apprehended him for the burglary. Jackson claimed he needed to sell the goods so that he would have money for food.

What sentence would you give Darryl Jackson and why?

Ron Kuzak is a 20-year-old male. He is a college student with a 3.6 grade point average, he works part-time at McDonald’s, and he goes to church on Sunday (he sings in the choir). He is also addicted to cocaine. Kuzak has three prior felony convictions (all drug possession); he has recently been convicted of his fourth felony (a burglary), and you are the judge deciding his fate. The sentencing statute allows you to sentence Kuzak with anything from a minor fine to life imprisonment (or any combination of punishments).

Here are the specific facts of the case. On October 18, Ron Kuzak entered the apartment of Joni McDougal. He entered by picking the lock on her back door. He stole her watch ($1,500), diamond ring ($3,500), and Beanie Baby collection ($800). When Kuzak was leaving her apartment, a security officer stopped and apprehended him for the burglary. Kuzak claimed he needed to sell the goods so that he would have money for college tuition.

What sentence would you give Ron Kuzak and why?

well if the jackson doesn't have a family or has nothing to live for.. I believe a prison sentence would benefit him. He wouldn't have to fight for his life by stealing for food because he would be fed in prison. Also, his addiction would be halted since he couldn't get any so it would benefit him in the long run.

As for Kuzak i wouldn't give him a life sentence, but send him to rehab to straighten his life out and give him a short prison sentence

I like these kinds of questions.

Anyway, I would give Darryl Jackson ten years in prison. During that time, he would have to attend drug counseling. He would need to have a counselor sign a letter saying he would stay clean. Then, he would have to pay that woman 10,000 dollars.

Ron Kuzak would do ten years in prison. During that time, he would be allowed to take college classes in prison, assuming he was able to pay for them. He would also have to prove he was clean by having a drug counselor sign a letter. Then, he would pay the man 10,000 dollars.

The reason I gave Ron Kuzak a chance to get his college degree was because he has potential, and he can end up doing something with his life. If he didn't have a degree, he'd probably just end up doing drugs and robbing homes again. Darryl Jackson is a lost cause, and he's not going anywhere with his life.

If i was the law I would put nano implants in them then let them go with restitution and 10 year probation. I would track there every move and get the guys there getting there drugs from . I would dry up the source that and get allot of drug money to that could be used as another jump start for the economy

Both get same sentence, both life imprisonment. They are both repeat offenders, and both will not change. If i could, i would implement the death penelty for both, and one who is this kind of repeat criminal.

You're fishing...

Example:

It is time to elect a new world leader, and only your vote counts. Here are the facts about the three leading candidates.

Candidate A - Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with astrologists. He's had two Mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day.

Candidate B - He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening.

Candidate C - He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an occasional beer and never cheated on his wife. Which of these candidates would be your choice? Decide first, no peeking, then scroll down for the answer.

-------------------------------------------------------------
Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Candidate B is Winston Churchill.

Candidate C is Adolph Hitler.

Pretty interesting isn't it? Makes a person think before judging someone. Never be afraid to try something new. Remember: Amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the Titanic

and in case you never saw this one...... Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics: * 29 have been accused of spousal abuse * 7 have been arrested for fraud

* 19 have been accused of writing bad checks

* 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses * 3 have done time for assault

* 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit

* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges

* 8 have been arrested for shoplifting * 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits

* 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year

Can you guess which organization this is?

Give up yet?

It's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group of idiots that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.

I would sentence both criminals to 2 years in prison, followed by 5 years probation and they would have to complete a drug rehabilitation program.

Both having the same prior records, same charges, same amount stolen...I'd give both the same punishment.

Not being a Judge, I don't feel appropriate giving an actual sentence in this hypothetical situation...but if I was, I'd definitely sentence both to the exact same sentence.

I would imprison Jackson with 15 years. Which would give him time to get out of his cocaine addiction, and which would also provide him with meals and a roof over his head.
Kuzak, I would give him 10 years in prison, and require him to pay the total amount of items that were damaged or not returned.
Both would be required to go to rehab.
The reason I would give Jackson a longer sentence is because he definitely needs the roof and the meals, having no where else to go.
Kuzak gets the shorter sentence because he shows more potential to become a productive member of society, but he also would be required to pay damages because he would have a better chance at landing a job, and thus better chance at being able to pay.
