What would you do for naps (going from swing to crib)?

My 5 mo. old has been sleeping primarily in a swing during the day since he was born. He had severe colic and now has been diagnosed with GERD and a weak epiglottis. The swing was the only way we could get him to sleep comfortably.

However, at night time he will sleep in his crib. Just in the past week he's gone from 2 wakings to 1 waking at night, so I know he's slowly getting better.

Here's my question: When I put him to sleep for a nap in his crib, I do good to get 40 minutes out of him. He will sleep for 3 hours in the swing, and he wakes up happy. He wakes miserable after napping in the crib. He usually takes three naps during the day: a long one in the morning, a 1-2 hour nap in the afternoon and a 30-45 min nap in the evening.

How do I get him to happily sleep in the crib during the day? He needs his sleep, but if I put him to bed in the crib he doesn't get the sleep he needs. Any advice?
I think he's outgrowing the swing. His little feet hang out of the seat. He's a big 5 mo. old at 19.5 lbs.
