What I mean is (I'm talking writing here), if one character were possessed by another character (with their personality in control and all), what would you call this character? Would you call them by who the character is physically, the original character, or would you call them by who they are mentally, the person who is controlling them? (I hope that makes sense) Thanks!

Depends.... whatever you do though make sure you remain consistent, and make sure the reader understand beforehand what's happened. You can explain it in a short sentence. 'I took control of John. John now did whatever I told him to do, whatever I wanted, and so I made him walk. John quickly ran to the bathroom, etc...." sorry, bad example but w/e. It all depends on how you can/want to word it.

I'd call them by the person controlling them. But if it's from someone else's point of view, I think I'd call them by who they appear to be.

So if it's some girl and some guy is being possessed and she's talking about it, I think she'd refer to them as who they were physically.

but if it's in third person, I think i'd refer to them as who they were mentally.
