What would USA Military do if Taliban started shooting at them?

I don't mean one guy, I mean swarm of THOUSANDS of Taliban and Al Qaeda with loads and loads and loads of machine gun ammunition.

And they circle the US Army and started firing machine gun bullets at US Soldiers from every angle. The US army would be totally caught off guard, right? I mean EVERY angle they're being fired by Taliban with hundreds of rounds of ammunition?

Wouldn't the US Army be forced to surrender? The US Army wouldn't have thousands of machine guns. Or do they? If they were surrounded from ALL sides by a ring of Al Qaeda?

Step 1: Return Fire
Step 2: Call in coordinates and resources to HQ
Step 3: Take cover when the pretty pretty bombs start falling
Step 4: Go through the Taliban bodies for intel, pack up, keep going.

although not "THOUSANDS" of Taliban (as you've added to your hypothetical scenario) hundreds of Taliban have done this time and time again since 2001 and they have IN EVERY CASE been beaten back.

Since the US Military has terminated thousands of these freedom hating extremist already, they're hardly capable of mounting an attack such as the one that you've described.

The US Army are not idiots as you seem to be suggesting.

They constantly monitor the movements of the enemy and wouldn't be caught off guard.

The US Army have fighter jets, heliocopters, tanks, mortars, and lots of ammo. The Taliban and Al Qaeda would feel the full force of US might should they try to launch an attack against any US stronghold.
