I am able to get toyo proxes tyres really cheap. As they are more sporting tyres, would they be worth putting on a lexus diesel family car? Are they a good all round tryre?

Needless to say we had these tyres on our old Subaru WRX. They're more suited to sports cars but they'd certainly improve handling and safety, and they work well in the wet too. They're good tyres.
