What would the qualifications have been of a GP and surgeon in Georgian England?

As the title says, would qualifications would he have needed to have, and what letters would have come after his name? The time is around 1810 - 1812.

Also, how long would he have had to study at university to gain these qualifications? And what subjects would he have had to study?
