What would the impact of a genetic bomb be.? ?

If a genetic bomb detonated , what would the death curve be.

would it be explosively high or steady like the black plague
the reason I ask is because one is predicted to cause the apocalypse soon

in the comics is effects the entire world by giving them all superpowers.
 
In my mind a genetic bomb would be a rapidly expanding release of a negative, irreversible genetic variation. As example children being born without the ability to reproduce or without auto immune systems with which to fight disease. It would be catastrophic. That is why a genetic reserve must be maintained, in essence creating viable DNA from human genetic "deadenders" (humans that did not reproduce) and all life forms that are on the verge of extinction. The genetic reserve would be used like a massive "system restore" should a detrimental genetic flaw occur. Someday genetic resistance to diseases will be discovered, it would be disappointing if it were to be discovered in a species we allowed to die out with no preserved viable genetic mass.
 
wtf is that? Even plutonium radiation from the atomic bombings hasn't caused many mutations in the japanese.
 
It would be very high at the start but and decline as the population of the world decreases and cures are made.)
 
Ummm... Let's see... There is relatively little difference between humans and monkeys. So I've got to believe that a "genetic bomb" would be unable to target a specific ethnic group.

So the result would be that the inventor kills himself while testing, and the world is safe minus one mad scientist. Hurray!!!!

El Guapo... You do realize that most "deadenders" occur for a reason (disease, ugly, etc...). As much as I like your explaination for how it would work, your solution sucks. Us smarties just need to screw more. See the film "Idiocracy."
