The answer to your question is simply that they would be condemned and fired.
However, there is a difference between a reporter making those statements and a comedian making similar statements. It doesn't make it right but for most people it makes it easier to overlook.
ST HELL: Republicans need to make a big deal out of relatively minor issues like this one. After all, during the election, Democrats couldn't tell the difference between Palin making statements and Fey portraying her on SNL.
