What would happen if we limited Unemployment Benefits to 3 months?

its hard to realize that maybe some people didn't grow up with all the advantages that others had, or maybe after years of hard work someone can just be down on their luck for a while

its a fucking joke, TAKE THEIR BENEFITS AWAY... no, why don't we tax all these corporations and close all the stupid fucking loopholes out there, that'll generate more revenue than taking away services that everyday people need to live

price of homes would drop, foreclosures would rise, bankruptcies increase, crime increases in inner city areas, cost of labor drops, manufacturing returns to the US

Why don't they move to where there are jobs? Are they looking outside of their 'degree'? You don't have to go work at McDonalRAB but there are lots of jobs available. Look at the oilfield for example. God forbid someone has to move or do a little bit of physical labor. It's just easier to complain about it or sit on the govt payroll.

Realistically, taking that job hurts your ability to get a job paying closer to what you should be earning.

And if that job isn't paying as well as UI, it's probably paying like a third of what you had been making. You can usually still collect UI to make up the difference to the state's cap.

Unless you're close to the end of your benefits, it just seems pointless to even be applying to jobs that would pay less than unemployment.

Err, no, not really.

But even if it were, it's "welfare" going toward previously contributing merabers of society with rent, mortgages, and bills to pay. Cutting them off as they look for work isn't doing anyone any good.

You can't just limit unemployment like that because of how fucked the entire system is.

In a halfway normal world, people who were unemployed would be able to find good jobs again relatively quickly. In this economy, finding jobs (even shitty ones) is exceedingly difficult.

I'd take every last cent from unemployment if I couldn't find a job that paid more, not like I'd enjoy it though.

Being unemployed sucks, i'll tell you right now, I'd much rather wake up every morning and go to work, than wake up and sit around all day applying and annoying my network

Standard of living? A shelter and food. That's what I'm looking for. Yeah, I'm living high on the hog compared to africans seeing as I do have a bed and computer and an AC that I can keep set on 85, but I'm living on sandwiches and still hitting negative bank balances every 2 weeks.

What's the cut off? I dunno man, but I'm getting pretty damn close to my cut off. I'm about to the point that it's time to get a gun and go make paper like the executives do
