What would happen if all I did was drink water and eat veggies all summer?

I got a bulging gut so I'm wondering what would happen if all I did was eat vegetables in the form of soup and salad and drank water (like eight 16 oz servings of water each day to amount to a gallon) every day with maybe some moderate to intense 20 minute elliptical and a few weight repetitions on the bench press and free weights each night. I am 230 and I'm trying to shrink down to about 150 since I'm 5'5".
 
Nice in theory (and I'm not a dietician) but I would think that it would leave you feeling very weak. You probably would lose weight rapidly, most crash diets do work but no-one can sustain that kind of food intake permanently so the weight goes right back on. That's why in the long run crash diets don't work.

If the photo in your avatar is actually you then you hardly look like you have a big weight problem in the first place, just cut back and eat sensibly.
