what would cause the A/C to blow warm air on a 2003 Chevy Tahoe?

my car started doing that during the summer one year. i took it into the dealership. they said the liquid that cools the air (i forgot the name of it) had been defective or had run out. its just a maintenance issue. i'd get it checked out, and repaired if you have spare cash for it.
