What would be the best street bike for under $2000?

I am looking for a decent street under $2000, not very much street bike experience but plenty off road dirtbike experience with big bikes so I can handle a bigger bike. What would be my best bet? I was thinking of a CBR 600 or a GSXR 600 or something like that.
 
A 600 is good size to start off with. But you won't find one that isn't crashed for under $2000, unless its real old.
you will find one for $3000 to $5000

But if you do find a 600, don't get the CBR as they are the weakest of the bunch. I'd look for an R6.
 
If you want a CBR or GSXR you wont find any unless its 10yrs old or salvaged.

Just look on Ebay for some salvaged bikes that only need some fairings or rearsets. If you want a bike thats kinda new you'll have to get a 250 sorry, no 600cc bike will sell for under 2000 unless its from the 1990's
