The French rebellion aimed to change the system of government. The King and Queen solely ruled the Kingdom of France, making decisions irrespective of what the people wanted, imposing heavy taxes and harsh penalties for breaking the law. There was limited rights, privileges and opportunities for the population, as they had very little input in the Monarch's affairs, and therefore couldn't contribute. One person leadership restricted the French from choosing how their society should be structured and the course it would take in the future. It gives huge authority to the monarch and almost none to the general townsfolk. It was a way of controlling everyone and manipulating them to accept their lifestyle and obeying their leader, or suffering the consequences. Additionally the declaration of human rights was created in 1789, allowing a "morally right" approach to be taken by the people.
In a constitutional monarchy or republic known as democracy, the power is within the people. They decide who is rightfully the president on his proposed policies. Any new law that is written needs to pass through parliament and several politicians before it is deemed official. France needed this alteration, and so the revolution was launched against Marie Antoinette and King Loius XVI. They were executed for their horrible reign.
Glad to help you =)
