I wouldn't suggest you give the kitten run of the house. Either keep it specifically in one room or consider keeping it in a large crate while you are not there to monitor it. Make sure all toxins/poisons are put away as well as cleaning supplies. He can get onto counters, so make sure things are cleared off. Its a kitten, so they are going to be hyper, so get it something to play with, but nothing that he could potentially chew off and swallow. Anything that he COULD swallow, like little marbles or something as a decoration, should be put away until he is older.
Good luck! Kittens are a blast, but they always find a way to get into trouble. Keeping him in one room for now limits what you have to watch out for and also gives him just the right amount of space to explore.
