What would be a reason to take someone's order and then wait on other customers?

I was at Wendy's and the cashier took my order. I only ordered a drink. Then she proceeded to wait on the people behind me and got their food and drinks while I just stood there. I told her that I wanted my drink and she said said I am getting to it and proceeded to help the other customers. I then said I was here first and she said sorry and got my drink.
 
Wow, that's really frustrating. I can't think of any reason why someone would do that. You should file a complaint on their website. My mom was treated rudely at Outback twice recently and she filed a complaint telling them exactly what happened. They sent her a $20 gift certificate and two apology letters. It's worth a shot.
