What would be a good combo guitar amp for small venues/band practice?

I am looking for a decent combo amp under $500 (not more) that I can play at smaller venues and still be heard through the other guitars, the drums, and the singer. I am looking for a sound similar to alternative rock (such as Green Day, blink-182, Paramore, etc.).
