what would be a good but cheap sub ?

It would be really bad for any of us to answer without more information.

How much power do you plan to run to your sub?
Is your sub enclosure sealed or ported?
What is the internal volume of the sub enclosure?

For example, I could just say "Alpine Type R", but if you have a 300W amp and a 2 cubic foot ported enclosure, that would be a horrible sub choice.
 
Actually RPM is an idiot, the Type R would be a decent choice. But now looking for a cheap but good sub for a 15" box, good luck. I will give you a link to check out for anything that your looking for sub wise. They are low cost, very good subs (pound hard) low cost because you buy directly from the manufacturer, comes with a 5 year warranty and kick a$$ customer service.
