The U.S. is tied up in expensive and unwinnable wars all over the globe, and the hemorrhaging appears to be unstoppable. The U.S.' superpower status is clearly on the way out.
And, previously unthinkable to those of us in the 35-65 age bracket, recently-illustrated political and financial instability makes it at least a possibility that the nation itself won't exist in the foreseeable future.
So now that it's almost time to sum up the results of the American experiment, what do you think history will record as the U.S.' greatest accomplishment?
There haven't been any real new U.S. accomplishments in decades. The international participation in building the Internet rules that out of consideration.
My bet is that it will be either the 1950s building of the Federal highway system, or the 1960s Apollo project.
