What will happen if I deposit a business check into the ATM two days early?

I received the check today on friday, but it is dated for sunday. It is from my employer and I am positive the funds are available. I bank with Bank of America in CA.

There is a chance that the check will be returned. Although it's the depositor's (your) responsibility to honor the check's payment date, those involved in the processing of the check will return post-dated checks.

It is possible that the check will go through without a problem but I wouldn't risk it - it may take up to 5 business days to get it back if they do return it.

It will go through. It is up to the issuer to be vigilant and aware of dates. Not the bank and the depositor. You can deposit it.
