what will a cold air intake do to my 1992 ford ranger 4.0?

i already have constant oil changes, fuel injection cleanouts, tune ups, and have a dual flowmaster american thunder series muffler
i heard you get better gas mileage and like a whistle noise when shifting *mine is an automatic though*
