So, I couldn't go to bed last night. I always sleep with my window open, it's summer time, and it's really quite hot. Anyways, my bed is right next to my window, and, around 2-3 am this morning I kept on hearing this REALLY really weird sounds coming from the forest area down the block from my house.
It was like a high-pitched horses neigh except it sounded like it was in distress, it went like "Yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii... and "yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" again, and again and again. So much, in fact, that it annoyed and freaked the **** out of me, so I closed my window.
The area isn't really a forest, more like a bunch of really old evergreens clumped together, with a red abandoned barn at it's foot. Across the street from that are some well-developed homes, but past the fence of my backyard and there's this whole back walkway thats all unkept grass.
The sound sounded like it kepts on coming nearer, and farther away, nearer and farther away, so my question is: What the **** was it?
Could it have been an owl of some sort? I thought that, then it occured to me that owls don't tend to scream "yiiiiiiiiiiii" like that.
The barn is abandoned, but my entire residential area used to be a horse range.
