Create a ‘snakes and ladders’ board game designed for 12 year olds so they can learn about the ups and downs of life in the USA in the 1920s and 1930s.
•Include at least six ladders and six snakes. Vary their lengths in terms of their importance or impact (a long snake or ladder = more important or a bigger impact on life in the USA)
•In the squares at the bottom of a ladder or at the top (tail) of a snake include a few words to describe the event.
•Cover a range of types of events and the experiences of different types of people in the 1920s and 1930s to explain the changes in:

Attitudes towards race and the position of women
The environment
The arts and entertainment

Farming
Government and law & order
Include a single A4 sheet with brief explanations of words in the squares affected by a ladder or a snake. These explanations must be written in language that can be understood by a 12 year old child. For example: if you wrote ‘Wall Street Crash’ in a square as one of your snakes, briefly explain the Wall Street Crash in language suitable for a 12 year old.
