Across world history you read about beatings and child marriages, exposure at birth, imprisonment and execution among a list of various other practices that would be incontestable child abuse by today's standards, yet a natural part of life among ancient ones. I was hoping to find some cultures or periods of the ancient world that were more progressive. Do you know of some exceptions? I suppose I'm an optimist and would like to think this can't be the whole story!
