What watch do you wear? Part 2

I bought this as a 3rd watch, to be used for when work gets physical & dirty. £56.

My Breitling Crono 2 with blue face is currently being serviced, costing £300 (new crown), its been there since October. That's going on sale when I get her back in February.

The 3rd watch will too, I never wear it as its a dress watch, pretty but too feminine.

Am currently on a cruise and they have a Tag Monaco (blue) for £2700 on the ship instead of £3600 in UK but am struggling to persuade the wife it's needed unfortunately

Thanks for that.

Hmm looking at them not sure its my cup of tea. They look a little garish (not sure about the coloured crowns) and the design seems not quite as sharp as the Uboats or Welders ( which I do think are a little OTT with some of the designs).

All good though. Also sturabled across the "nixon" which has to be the ugliest watch I've ever seen.

Be interesting to see how the U-boat sits on my wrist. I'd say I'm about average on the wrist front and normally wear a TAG monaco chrono which at 38mm is still considered a somewhat largish watch , 7mm more on the Uboat shouldn't be a problem...I'm hoping!

I do think I'll be buying myself a somewhat boring birthday present this year in the shape of a service for my Tag.

No most are right handed. When placed on the left wrist the controls or winding butttons are on the right to be accessed with the right hand. Bit tricky on the right wrist but I am unable to do a watch strap up on my left wrist.

Need the advice of the more learned watch afficionados again.
I need to buy a watch winder, for when I'm not wearing my automatic.
I noticed most seem to have settings to rotate the watch clockwise/anti-clockwise or auto.
Why the different settings?

no he doesnt need a chronograph and if he had a choice he would probably prefer the simpler watch but as far as a good watch is, i thought this was pretty good bang for buck.

also he wouldnt be bothered by brand either but as im getting it i would like for it to be something decent....

Why not?

To be fair i'm half thinking the same and currently trying to sort a part trade for the GMT + cash for a Daytona.

I see the Sinn isn't staying...

^ about the only good thing for me with having fat wrists is being able to wear large watches without them looking too ridiculous (50mm TW Steel for example)

I really wouldn't bother with one mate

I bought one a couple of years ago for well over £200 and it was so annoying spinning round, the noise did my head in

I was talking to a certified Rolex Service guy a few months later who said he would NOT recommend leaving an auto watch in a watch winder, something to do with the oil inside the watch, and if you were using one a service should be done EXACTLY on the time scale recommended.

If you have a few auto's just wind them up when you need them I say, if you had a few cars you wouldn't leave the ones you weren't using running in the garage would you

Think you were maybe looking at the Chotovelli 'dasrabroadoard' range.
The 'pilot' range doesn't have coloured crowns and is most similar to U-Boat.
I agree about Welder, their designs are just a little bit too "woooah" for me.
With regard to the size of your U-boat, I wouldn't worry about 45mm.
I've had 53mm, which I didn't feel looked ridiculous.
Did draw comments from others though.

No it's not I just haven't taken to it like I hoped and wished I would. It's a touch small so doesn't look right on me and I don't see the merit in having so much money tied up in a watch that isn't going to get worn often.

Shame though, as I love the design and finish and being tegimented makes it an ideal every-day watch to be worn without fear. I even ordered a rubber strap for it
