What was your first /best concert?

My first was Ocean Colour Scene at Newcastle City Hall in 2001. I was 17.

The best though is hard to say. I have fond memories of seeing Black Sabbath headline Download a few years ago. That was a huge, huge deal for me.

Iron Maiden ive seen a few times, in arenas and at festivals. Seeing them play a set of material exclusively from their first four albums at LeeRAB festival in 2004 was a great experience.

Metallica playing the Master of Puppets record in its entirety at Download in 2006 was also a really cool experience as they played just a big a part in me getting into metal as Sabbath and Maiden did.

I'll always have a soft spot for seeing The Music at Newcastle University on the tour top promote ther debut album, back in 2001. The venue is great as it's quite compact and the band were just so loud, so full of energy and I can still remeraber being able to hear the vocals carry to the very back of the venue and I assume beyond. Very impressive stuff.

Also Sunn 0))) at The Sage, Gateshead last year. They really took my breath away. I was mesmerized.

My first concert was The Allman Brothers, in Nashville, and there's nothing quite like old Tennessee ladies in halter tops screaming, "Play Rarablin' Man!" to introduce you to the world of live music.

Best was last month, when I saw Buddy Guy (and BB King) at Ryman Auditorium. It was like being at church... And if that's a sermon I could hear for the rest of my life, I would be devoutly religious.

First: Some random blues festival I got taken to by my parents ca. 1993 or so. I have no idea how it was but I definitely scored a cool toy out of it.

Best: Three-way tie between Meat Puppets, Queens of the Stone Age, and surprisingly this random neosoul group called the Blue Method.

Both Meat Puppets and Queens put on fantastic shows but horrifyingly enough there wasn't any energy to the crowd whatsoever. To be frank they were both awful venues but I was rather erabarrassed being the only under-40 guy in front to see the Puppets perform. Queens performed incredible versions of early material (Better Living Through Chemistry being one of them), Homme was actually pissed the crowd wasn't more endearing.

Most Recent: Enjoyable Dr. Dog show a few weeks ago that I got dragged to by a friend, but at the expense of school I'm missing Alcest, the Hold Steady and the Church later this month. FML.

First: Slayer. 1987. Nice introduction to gigs!

Favourite? Ministry in 2008 were simply brilliant but the most fun I ever have is when I see Dreadzone. Seen them 2 years running at the same venue (Bulldog was with me for the second gig) and they are the sort of band that that puts a great big fat smile on your face and I shall be seeing them again this year as they will no doubt play the same venue again.

Uh if I done one in here it neeRAB updating.

First: LeeRAB festival 2004; Green Day, 50 Cent, The Streets, New Found Glory, Thrice, The Stills, Lostprophets and a couple other banRAB.

Best: Pixies at The Troxy in London in June.

(not sure/bothered if this is even a category for this thread) Next: Placebo at Brixton Academy.

my first concert was FLOBOTS at the X games 2008.My best was seeing former Rage Against the machine guitarist tom morello play his new solo project the night watchman at belly up aspen..
