my family and i were talking about and we came up with funny reasons and now im wondering because none of them seem right.... some were like sweeping, to clean their shoes...but i know there has to be a reasonable explenation.
 
It was kind of to scare off the enemy, to make the Romans seem more powerful, and yet I think its really ridiculous.
