What was the name of this arcade game?

I remember back in the days I played an arcade game that had an ape like creature (kinda like King Kong) as the main character and he would fight cavemen people in a side-scrolling type fashion. Also I remember when your character would become overwhelmed you could press a button and he would roar loudly causing enemies to freeze from the sound and you could attack them. I've tried google searching but I haven't stumbled on anything that reminds me of the game I played. I don't remember much else about it either.
