What was the largest rebellion in human history?

My US politics textbook says that the US revolutionary war was the first successful large-scale rebellion in human history. I find this hard to believe. There have been some huge empires throughout history. certainly, it was probably waged over the largest distance, but in terms of numbers of people was it the largest?

chinese dynasties had many revolutions

there have most likely been larger rebellions, but the revolition probably was the first SUCCESSFUL large-scale rebellion( unless there are others that weren't documented, or the documents were destroyed).
