What was Jesus doing while in the garden of Gethsemane?

I have not read the bible thoroughly but just watched Passion of the Christ for the second time and was curious about the beginning of the movie while Jesus is in the garden.

He was praying. I believe He even said, "Father, if it is possible, take this Cup from Me." He was fully human and fully divine. The fully human part of Him made Him scared to die. Plus, He loved the world so completely, and He knew everything, so He knew that there were those who did not love Him back, and it really, really hurt. The Agony was so intense in the Garden that He began to sweat drops of blood. Believe it or not, this is possible. I have had that happen to me, as incredulous as it might sound. And it dealt with loving someone so completely and being in agony over the fact that that person did not feel the same way. Think of how much of a bigger scale that was for Jesus. He loved us so much, He lay down His life for us. And, yet, He knew, that the gift would not be appreciated by some.

I'm sure it wasn't anything like the movie. Trust me. Do you expect something that happened over 2000 years ago to be accurately portrayed by an Australian action hero?

Jesus was praying for the disciples, he was praying for himself and the death he was to face on the cross for us.. He asked the Father to let "this cup pass from me" the bitter cup that he was to face and drink for our sins, every wrong doing... He truly began to feel WHAT sin does to the human soul, and the separation sin has on him and God..

Jesus is God.. Can you imagine God being seperated from himself?

Jesus became a curse for us.

He was asking God his father, to allow the 'cup to pass from him'. In other words he was asking his father "If there is anyway I can get out of this, please let me, but I will do what you ask, as you will".

He was praying, as the others have answered. If you wish to begin reading the Bible, you can start at the website below. It's always good to be curious about things.

MARANATHA! Come, Lord Jesus, COME!

He was praying deeply for the strength to endure what he knew He was
going to have to go through.
The Bible says His prayer was so intense that His sweat were as drops
of blood. Jesus was fully human, He took that on at birth. He wanted
to know how we are tempted and what we go through. So He was
afraid as anyone would be, and prayed for strength to not back out.
Because He had the strength to stop any of the proceedings at any
time. Even Satan admitted the ten thousands of angels would have
come to keep Him from dashing His foot against a stone, if He only
called. But Jesus loved us enough to fulfill His mission to provide a
sinless, perfect sacrifice, for anyone who would merely accept it.
May God bless you and keep you safe.
