What wars have been started because of religion other than the crusades?

In Europe:

One of the big causes of the Thirty Years War in Germany (1618-1648) was the conflict between Protestant and Catholic rulers.

The French Wars of Religion (1562-1598) was based on the same Reformation conflict.

No war has just one root cause. There are always preeminent social, economic, and political elements to any armed conflict.
When people say the Crusades were based on religion, they forget the vast political and social causes of the conflict.
 
what time period are you interested in? And are you asking in reference to Europe?
 
No war of any consequence was ever really over religion, including the crusades, most all wars are over dirt, you have it, i want it

The crusades were more about second sons who were unable to inherit so needed lands of there own.
 
The only war started entirely because of religion was the Spanish Inquisition. Not even the crusades were completely religious in nature.
