Is a 2gb SD card useful?

When you download VC games, do they stay on your Wiis onboard memory or to the card?

Whats the deal with game saves too? Is there an option to save them to the card?

Just trying to find out how useful it would be.

you can save games on the card, but you cant save VC games on them.

only really usefull for picture and crap. I dont think i will be getting a card for it.

Thats my understanding on it atleast

I bought a 2GB SD card from Best Buy over the weekend for my Wii. I like being able to put a shitload of pictures on there and MP3's to make cool slideshows. I hope a site starts offering game saves as well to download for Wii games.

The console has 512mb of on board memory for game saves, VC downloads, etc. You can use an SD to save & transport gave save information, miis (I think), photos, etc.

I don't believe VC games ever end up on the SD card, or if they do, they are in a state that would make them unplayable anywhere but on the Wii that bought them.

However, you can delete and re-download them anytime after purchase, so no real need to back them up, you just can't move them.

I just picked up a 2gb card for $35 (or somthing like that) at newegg, the nintendo ones are a ripoff ($80??). I thought you could save virtual console games on it, guess not. whatever, hopefully there will be a mod chip eventually and I'll be able to load all my roms on it.

I think you can save something, b/c they always advertised it as an option should your flash memory become full. but I know you can't transport the games, so I'm curious how that protection works ... and how easily it can be beaten

its probably just encoded to yer wii, I think it would be pretty stupid for nintendo to not let you store games on it. I know I'd buy alot more if I could put em on the sd card. esp N64 games that take up alot of space. in the data management section it looked like I could move games over I just dont have a card in there right now so I cant check it out. when my sc card comes I'll let people know.

Yeah, I think Excite Truck will be the first of many games that will let you use your own music tracks in games. Also, for competitive games you will be able to take your progress with you to play against someone at their place. I'm just waiting for EA to make a Wii version fo Fight Night and then it's game on!

Yes, you can copy VC games to an SD card in data management. They're wrapped in DRM so that they only play on that particular console though.

i bought one since i thought i needed it to save, but haven't opened it yet. i'll probably return it. any sd card will work, right? the nintendo one was a real ripoff at 500mb for 36 bucks
