What universities allow you to start medical school right out of highschool?

I have a friend who lives outside of the US and she started medical school right out of high school. She says that the same way there are undergraduate degrees for engineering, business, psychology, etc. there's a five year undergraduate degree for medicine.
I thought people had to do an undergrad degree in biochemistry or bioengineering and then apply to medical school. There has to be something unique about this 'undergrad pre-med' degree and why don't I hear much about this in the US. Those students who want to be doctors, shouldn't they do this pre-med degree versus something like bioengineering and if the US places so much expectations on high school students to go to college, why am I hearing about this for the first time, from someone who lives in India?

The U.S. doesn't have that. However, there are some schools that have programs that go straight into med school after college. I believe Rice University has a 7-year program that after HS you go to Rice, get an undergrad degree, and then go to med school at Rice for an MD.

In the US, the normal route is to do a bachelors degree (in anything, not just bio, as long as you take the premed classes) and then go to med school afterwards. However, there are a few BS/MD schools that combine the bachelor and medical degrees in to 6-8 year programs instead of the two separate 4-year programs.
