I have a friend who lives outside of the US and she started medical school right out of high school. She says that the same way there are undergraduate degrees for engineering, business, psychology, etc. there's a five year undergraduate degree for medicine.
I thought people had to do an undergrad degree in biochemistry or bioengineering and then apply to medical school. There has to be something unique about this 'undergrad pre-med' degree and why don't I hear much about this in the US. Those students who want to be doctors, shouldn't they do this pre-med degree versus something like bioengineering and if the US places so much expectations on high school students to go to college, why am I hearing about this for the first time, from someone who lives in India?
