What types of mechanics make the most money?

I love cars and i want to be a mechanic but i relize that the dont make alot of money...i want a job where i can work in the garage with cars and make atleast 65k a year.(are there any engineers that works in the garage and works on cars) also what should i major in college. Thanks for your help!

Any mechanic could make quite a sum of money if they're smart, just like any other occupation. An engineer doesn't work on cars except during testing and things like that. If you want to work on cars or something you won't want a traditional college a tech school will be your choice. ultimately it comes down to love and happiness. it's better to be poor and happy than rich and miserable. I have too many friends that chased a dollar sign and have been hating themselves for years feeling trapped like thay do. I don't make a ton of cash but I'm comfortable and the wife is happy too.

If you have mechanical aptitude you would be well place in th Offshore Oil Industry. They make about $120K working equal time on and off. If you are lucky you can transition to Sub Sea Engineer increasing your salary about 40%. Try Transocean.
