aren't too specific? I know there are three basic groups -- string instruments, flutes, & drums.
I'm in 8th grade, writing a poem about bon dances, but I need to be more specific on the instruments. I don't want to include all these Japanese names for the instruments because I don't want to astonish or give too much toward the audience.
There's a list after Traditional & Folk Music at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Japan, but the names are too specific. I want to be more general, but add something other than just flutes, strings, & drums. For example, taiko drums are perfect because they are more descriptive about the type of drum & people are more familiar with them, but it would be weird to write kakko because, well, majority of people don't know what they are.
So do you have any suggestions? Taiko drums is literally the only instrument from the list I have ever heard of, but if people really are familiar with something else that would sound good with flutes/drums, please say so! Respectful answers please, thank you
