What types of fish tanks are better and cheap Marine or Tropical?

I am planning to buy a fish tank but i am confused what type is better and cheap and more good looking. I think Marine looks more beautifull but I think it costs more and people say tropical is cheaper and better so i am really confused. Are there any sites which can help me like a guide as its my first time.
