What type of Martial Arts class best suits me?

More important than choosing a good martial art is choosing a good instructor and training group. I would explain exactly what you just did to us to some of your local instructors and judge their reactions. Likely one of them will understand and want to help.

Hey, I'm in High School and I'm your typical non-social geek type of person. I get picked on a LOT and yesterday I found out my younger brother got beat up by three Juniors (me being a Sophomore, and bro being a Freshman.) I'm not looking to beat anyone up, I just want kids to back off.

So what type of martial arts teaches best in self-defense? Thanks.

I have answered similar question to this. The best martial arts comes from your preference, whether it be hard first style like karate and muay thai, or gentle fist style like tai chi or jujutsu. If you cannot decide, try researching each martial arts that interest you and possibly take trial lessons from nearby martial arts school. In truth, there is no such thing as the BEST martial arts. Every martial arts are equally as strong as another, and can be used in any way you like, whether it be for fighting or for self-defence.
