What type of foods are best to eat if you care about the environment?

I know that eating meat is bad for the environment so I'm thinking about becoming a vegetarian, but before I do I wanted to see if all meat is bad for the environment.

The larger the animal the bigger the environmental impact and grain consumed vs. lb of meat. Chickens are better for the environment then say cows.

Fish populations are dwindling so fish purchased from fish farms are better than sea fish.

Fruits and vegetables are often shipped thousands of miles to reach us. Grow your own and buy locally grown to lessen the impact.

Eating meat is not bad for the environment. Look at all the carnivores in Africa, lions, cheetahs, leopards, gators, monkeys, hyenas, foxes, eagles, etc. Their meat eating has caused no damage, so why would you think humans eating meat would?

Eating organic range feed chickens...sounds good. But what you don't realize is they also eat their own crap! This is much less likely to happen if they are in coops, b/c it all falls through to the bottom. So yes they are free of hormones, but if they eat their own crap, I would just as soon not eat them. Give me a good steak.

Eat whatever you want, humans have been around for thousands of years, it isn't going to matter one way or the other to the environment.
