what type of fishing pole should i get?

i love fishing in the pond by my house (catch and release), but i only have a plastic, $7 fishing pole to use. i want to get a better one, but i have no idea how much i should spend or where i should look.

any recomendations? i'm 14

(i am pretty good at catching large bass and carp)
