What type of clothing do I need to hike in Montana in early June?

Going on a road trip the first couple weeks of June (North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana) and expect to do some hiking. What type of clothing should I pack if I have limited space? Is it going to be cool or warm? Or combination?
