im planing on cycling from scarborough (north yorkshire England) to Glandore, (Cork Ireland) the journey is about 500 miles and im planing on doing it in summer next year (in my gap year from college) and i wasn't sure what type of bike to get. obviously a road bike would be best but would a Hybrid be almost as good or maybe just a good mountain bike with road Tyre's. i need to be able to carry panniers with clothes and other items in. also can any one give me any information on this length of bike ride and any suggestions of a good bike to get.
what type of bike should i buy?
