Using my stock car head unit (1999 Cougar with CD/AM/FM) I upgraded all 4 of my stock 6x8 speakers to Pioneers. I purchased an empty box that can hold two 15" subwoofers. I purchased 2 KLF 15 Subs. What kind of amplifiers do I need to adequately drive these 6 speakers? I'm not looking to buy the most expensive equipment, I've been told to stay away from Pyle, Pyramid, Jensen, and other lesser no-name brands... I'm not trying to win contests, I'm not trying to blow out the neighborhood either and I'm not changing the OEM deck.

If you are looking for the least expensive way to power up your 6x9's
A new cd player is the way to go, here's why;

If you where to buy a 3900 pioneer cd player you would spend about $140.
You would be able to control your sub from the drivers seat,Pioneer decks have separate subwoofer / 6x9 controls that are very cool.
It would power up your 6x9 to 50x4 and they will scream.

If you keep your old deck you would have to run a new 4 channel amp, $190+install kit

You will have to rewire all 4 speakers, witch means about 4 to 5 hours of cutting into your cars existing wiring harness, that can be a pain.

And like the dude above me said you would have to use rca adaptor to tie into the factory wires and you will lose sound quality and about $45.

It's cool that you got a pair of 15's. A KX 750/1 kicker would work. They are pretty cheap for what you get and have a lot of protection circuitry.

Are KLF 15 car subs?
