I'm currently a sophomore and 16 years old. I've had no prior running experience (on a track team or any organized team such as this) to this year, and I ran a 14s (crappy start, I didn't know any mechanics) in my first race. I improved to 13.6 my next race just recently ran a 13s flat 100m and 27.3 200m.
There's a meet coming up on Thursday and to be perfectly honest, my coach doesn't do much. We run distance or practice block starts, so I can't say we're doing speed drills. I've been practicing on my own, and I'm wondering what exactly what I should do.
For practice (track, not by myself), I start with a mile run through our nature trail (about an 8 minute light jog), then I power skip (A Skip?) 200m. I take a lap cooldown, go and stretch some more, then do a backwards 100m run. I do two laps, then sprint a 100m. By this time, the coach (finally) comes and we begin our workout for the day. He's usually late which is why I do a lot of things by myself.
I'm still very new to training / exercises in general, so if you can offer me any advice / new exercises to try, could you please provide a link or explanation? Thank you very much if you answer.
