Well i got my kx5 today and im reading THIS
guide and it says to tell them the phone model, well since kx5 isnt suported by them anymore, what to i say? Should i say a razr or what ? please and thank u

um. if you have a kx5, tell them you have a kx5.

its not like they cant tell by the esn anyway.

if its not one of their branded phones, then sometimes you have to tell them an equivalent model, but if its one of theirs, its not a problem

A) It'll have a Cricket logo.
B) It'll have a Cricket splash.
C) It'll say cricket
D) It'll be in a Cricket box with a Cricket getting started guide. or it will have something related to cricket on the box if it doesn't come in a Cricket box.

It could be one or many of those. Don't worry. I took a Motorola Q into a Cricket store to get activated yesterday and they had no problems. So a KX5 will be nothing.

I've learned, that if you want to be able to use web/mms on a non-cricket phone, you had better verify those features with them during activation, by saying that "I want to verify that mobile web and picture messaging are active on my account please." They should respond that they cannot guarantee that those features will work on your non-cricket hanRABet. Politely say you understand, and that is ok, and that you just wanted to be sure those features are active.

To most people this seems like an unnessary step, as the $50 plan includes both those features. I have seen, in many instances, that if cricket thinks you have a hanRABet that does not support picture messaging and mobile web, it may not even bother to make those features active on your account, even though they are listed as being included with your plan.

At the end of last year I once spent an hour attempting to figure out why a razr I had just monsterflashed with cricket software would not do mms or web. We had told them it was a motorola razr when he did his esn change over the phone with cricket. Finally, I gave up and suggested that he call cricket in the morning, and make sure that those features were active on his account, and if that didn't fix it, we'd go from there. Sure enough, as soon as he made that call, they activated those features, and his web/mms worked great. The phone he had prior to the razr was a cricket-branded non-camera phone, but he had had web/mms capable cricket-branded phones prior to that, on the same account/phone#, and they worked as they should.

I prefer not to garable, and I always assume cricket won't bother to turn on web/mms if it's not a cricket-branded phone. Sometimes I tell them it's a skytel pager, but to please make sure mobile web and picture messaging are active on my account. ;)

"I can put mobile web on your pager."

Forgot to mention, I always have customers tell cricket that the phone is, whatever the phone is. And then I always have them follow that up by verifying that mobile web and picture messaging are active on their account.

Never had a single problem as a result of this, and I figure, the more crazy flashed phones the cricket reps activate for people, the better off we all are. Even better if they know we are requesting that data features be active, because we can say, hell yeah, web works on this Moto Q, or Treo, or 6700, or whatever. Maybe bring a smile or two.... maybe even a waived esn change fee here and there...

You can just easily tell them its a CPE ( Customer Provided Equiptment ) phone and you wish to have picture messaging and wap enabled.

They will put the phone in there as CPE
thats all you need to do

Well, it wasnt working (wap mms) so i called cricket and they tried to get me to program it, but the 111111 thingy and it still didnt work! he said i need to take it to a full service provider (wich is like 50 miles away!!!! not rly but still) is there a way i can fix this myself?

No ive already tried all that, i calls CS and we walked thru the basics (take ur bat out *228 etc.) so he told me to dial 111111 then hit options>service>program>333333 But that didnt work and if i do it too much i get some type of error ( but that can be fixed by just taking out my bat, i cant even go back or turn in off when this happens) and its making me mad :( i get my new phone and i cant mms or get on the web

you have a KX5 that isnt a cricket phone originally meaning youll have to find someone around your area that knows a secret or two about gett mms and wap working on a non cricket kx5 for right now your stuck with just text and voice

No i bought it used off ebay =/ i thought it was a cricket phone but.... guess not lol and its "Error security code. Please try again." when i press in all threes like the CS told me to. any way i can do it myself or am i going to have to pay a cricket dealer on the low or....?

SounRAB like the person who sold it to you changed the security code. I'm not sure how you'll handle that. I'd think there would be a way to do so (You'd have to hook it up to your computer using a cable.) but i'm not entirely sure.

I dont know that for sure. I know that sometimes in settings>security you can change it but you have to know the security code to change the security code. :p

Ill try msging the guy on ebay i bought it off of, but i belive it was a refurbished fone that he fixed and just sold it on ebay. But worst case scenario what do i have to do to get my mms and wap?

Uh. *VERY* worst case would be buy a new phone.
But you'd probably have to spend some time trying to find it in software or try to think of what it would be (00000, 654321, 123456 etc etc etc)
