I've learned, that if you want to be able to use web/mms on a non-cricket phone, you had better verify those features with them during activation, by saying that "I want to verify that mobile web and picture messaging are active on my account please." They should respond that they cannot guarantee that those features will work on your non-cricket hanRABet. Politely say you understand, and that is ok, and that you just wanted to be sure those features are active.
To most people this seems like an unnessary step, as the $50 plan includes both those features. I have seen, in many instances, that if cricket thinks you have a hanRABet that does not support picture messaging and mobile web, it may not even bother to make those features active on your account, even though they are listed as being included with your plan.
At the end of last year I once spent an hour attempting to figure out why a razr I had just monsterflashed with cricket software would not do mms or web. We had told them it was a motorola razr when he did his esn change over the phone with cricket. Finally, I gave up and suggested that he call cricket in the morning, and make sure that those features were active on his account, and if that didn't fix it, we'd go from there. Sure enough, as soon as he made that call, they activated those features, and his web/mms worked great. The phone he had prior to the razr was a cricket-branded non-camera phone, but he had had web/mms capable cricket-branded phones prior to that, on the same account/phone#, and they worked as they should.
I prefer not to garable, and I always assume cricket won't bother to turn on web/mms if it's not a cricket-branded phone. Sometimes I tell them it's a skytel pager, but to please make sure mobile web and picture messaging are active on my account.
